Day 1: Additive Manufacturing Fundamentals

Processes, materials, applications and assessments methods

Description

The AMEXCI training on Additive Manufacturing Fundamentals aims to introduce the participants to state of the art technology and provide a comprehensive introduction on materials, properties, benefits and challenges. The course is designed for an audience with an industrial technical background and the theoretical notions will be contextualized with practical examples, case studies and interactive materials.

Day 2: Designing for Additive Manufacturing

Methodologies, guidelines and case studies

Description

The Design for Additive Manufacturing training is a deep dive into the design methodologies and rules necessary to produce optimal components using layer by layer constructions with different materials. The course we will tackle the so called “AM mindset”, drawing inspiration from existing success case studies and by going through principles of functional integration, topology optimization and material reduction. There will be a general introduction to the design methodologies and then there will be a focus on designing for extrusion process and powder based processes (metal and polymers).
