Creating more sustainable products using AM
Why you should attend?
Creating a new product is just not good enough anymore. You have to start thinking about its impact on the environment from the get go. However, choosing the right way to do it is not always easy. That’s why Cradlenet and AMEXCI have decided to partner up and help you make the right choice of when using Additive Manufacturing (AM). We will share best practices of how to measure, where we stand, and how to use most effectively use AM through the prism of the circular economy.
Objectives:
At the end of course you will:
- Have a basic understanding of some sustainability related concepts like carbon footprint, LCA and circular economy
- Understand the basics of LCA of AM parts: what to keep in mind when you look at such information.
- Have a view on where AM could be applied to contribute towards more sustainable and resilient products.
- Minimizing environmental impact when designing a part for AM
Agenda:
The training consists of 0,5-day online training followed by 1-day onsite training at AMEXCI’s facility in Örebro.

- LCA of AM: how it works, examples, tools available, comparisons between different tools, limitations, how to compare to conventional manufacturing

- Current shortcomings and how they can be improved
- Additive manufacturing and circular economy, where are the sweet spots?
- Where can AM be useful in terms of circular economy
- What are the other advantages of AM in terms of creating more sustainable products
- How to design for more sustainable products
- What are some simple rules when designing for AM to minimize waste and energy usage
- Conclusion
Cost
16 000SEK per participant.
In association with the theme of sustainability, you get 1000SEK off the cost per person if travel to Örebro in a more sustainable way (train, bus, or your own bicycle if you live close by).
When?
For now, we are just taking registrations of interest. Once we have a sufficient number of participants, we will reach out to the people who have preregistered to propose a date. The people who have preregistered will have priority in selecting the desired training dates. Training is probably taking place in the first half of May.

AMEXCI Bootcamp – Spring 2025
Description:
Want to challenge your AM design skills? Learn more about build preparation? And work hands-on with Metal AM? Look no further! AMEXCI’s Bootcamp presents you the perfect opportunity to do that at our brand new state-of-the-art facility in Örebro!
Participants from different companies will be split into groups and given a design challenge with an objective to work on. Teams will compete against one another to see which comes up with the best design! Along the way, AMEXCI’s experts will come in to share tips, tricks and best practices for you to improve your designs. You will then do data preparation and get to print and post-process your very own part in metal AM!
There will also be fun-filled evening activities for you to relax and unwind!
